What was in my kitchen last month? Not much, folks! I have been sick for over 2 weeks, and my energy levels have sunk to rock bottom. What a sad little possum I have been:( I am just starting to come out of it though, so hopefully I will have a lot more to share next month. But I did get hold of a few things, and I managed to get a few things done, so here is my meagre show and tell! Skip along to Celia's blog
Fig Jam & Lime Cordial for plenty of pleasurable peeks into global kitchens full of interesting and amazing things.

bottling the olives from our tree |
I preserved our olives which come but once a decade! Very rare to get a crop so I was very pleased to have enough to brine up and shove into jars. Happy eating I hope:) I hope that everyone else has had a more productive month than I have and look forward to sharing more next month.
Kitchen gadgets are lots of fun.

DeleteSherry – sorry to hear that you are still on the mend. You've been blogging like a trooper though so onwards and upwards! I'm truly jealous of you having a crop of olives, even if it's only once a decade. As to the chopping board, I imagine that would also be useful when travelling as it looks quite slim. A truly tasty tour.

DeleteA friend of mine has had a great olive harvest in Essex - hoping to try some soon. Such a treat!
ReplyDeleteKavey (fellow IMKer)
it was wonderful to get a crop this year as it is so rare. they turned out well!
DeleteSo many lovely hand crafted gifts and how wonderful to preserve your own olives. Our tree has just produced its first olive - one single lonely olive.
ReplyDeleteHave a beautiful day.
:-) Mandy xo
Thanks Mandy. Ooh that's a bit sad with only one olive. I know what it's like as our tree rarely fruits. So good when it has a few on it:)
DeleteI love those ceramics Sherry, your friend Brooke is very talented! Well done on the olives too, I have a jar soaking in brine on the counter at the moment, but from my mother’s tree not mine I’m afraid...
ReplyDeletethanks Beck. She is indeed a clever girl. You can buy her stuff online too! (a cheeky plug there) good luck with the olives. i was pleased with mine.:)
ReplyDeleteIs she Brooke Clunie at Byron? Perhaps you could add a link?
ReplyDeletehi Beck
ReplyDeleteI have added a link now! i didn't want to get too pushy:)
I hope you are feeling well and enjoying yourself in the kitchen again. Such beautiful pottery from your friend. Love the wooden saucer as well.
ReplyDeletethanks gretchen. i am feeling much better these days.:) yes brooke is a great potter and makes lovely stuff. the old man who makes the saucers does a great job too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tumbler, the texture and color are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a recipe for curing the olives? We have a tree in the front of our house by the driveway (it was supposed to be non-fruiting and is a real mess when the pollen and then olives drop). I tried brining the olives a couple of years ago and they were very bitter. Since then the small critters have been eating them (and storing them under the hood on our car engine).
hi liz
Deletei have put up a couple of posts re the olive curing - part 1 and 2:) Just type olives into the search button of my blog and they will come up. happy curing!
Lovely kitchen stuffs you have here. :) And I see those spices from Jamie Oliver again. I didn't know why I didn't get one when I was at the grocery. :( Thanks for visiting my IMK April 2015 post. Have a lovely week! xx
ReplyDeleteThanks! nice of you to drop by:) See you for May IMK?! :)
