Oh Hello Mr Prawn, you really are a statement piece!
That's for sure Fiona. It is a biggie!
Wow! Now that's some kind of town mascot.
Oh yes indeed Brooke. It is a very huge prawn that used to be a symbol for the sea food co-op at Ballina. The hardware store had to refurbish it when they took over the site.
Australia does "big" things so well. I always laugh at the big merino in Goulburn. I see from your comment that this prawn is in Ballina which I've been to a few times but not for years. I wonder how long it's been htere as I don't recall seeing it.
hi phoebeapparently the big prawn has been there since 1989. i thought it was longer but that is what google says:)
Aussies really do love giant things don't we? :P
you have to love a giant prawn, lorraine!
That is one heck of an advertising campaign!
it surely was, victoria when the seafood co-op owned it. such a fun symbol for seafood.

I love our Aussie 'BIG' things. Great shot, reminds me of all the other big stuff I've seen, like the Big Pinapple, the Big Bannnana and the other Crustaceans the Big Knight, and our local one is a Big Guy and Antlantis' Neptune. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.
