In My Kitchen - August 2023

July, where did you go?  August, how did you get here so fast?  I'm not ready for a new month :)  But Life doesn't ask your permission to keep on keeping on - which is a good thing.  It is a glorious day as I type this - bluest of blue skies (or if you're under 40 - 'skys'), no clouds and a slight, happy little chill in the sunny air.  I love a Brisbane winter!  

July was all doctors and dentists and tests, with more to come.  Hopefully not falling off my perch yet :=)  We went away for a night (an awards' night for Mr P.), and enjoyed the lovely cold night up on the Range.  Also caught up with a friend there.  We love Toowoomba, Mr P.'s hometown.  Funnily enough, a friend who lives in Tasmania but grew up in Toowoomba, was here at the same time.  And another friend who moves between Tassie and Queensland is up here too.  I bet our third Tassie friend is on her way soon :)

  5. Oh, wow - it is already August there! Still July here - I am holding on! Lots of fantastic flavors in your kitchen this month (the mustard!!) and I love the fishy glass and your mug. And thanks for the reminder for me to buy a new microplane grater - mine is worn down to nothing...

  7. Mr P says - great night in Toowoomba for the awards event. The Goods Shed is a tour de force for the town. Would you believe our association is seriously considering using it for our huge Qld state awards night in 2024. If anyone gets a chance to visit it, I say go!
    What a busy month Ms Pickings had - it was full on . . .

  12. Love the sound of the aged soy sauce...you always have a little something Japanese in your kitchen. Everyone needs a little chocolate and some spice in their lives, so enjoy. Lovely pottery and birthday gifts (hope you had a lovely birthday) too. Do hope all tests are good and yes time is running away with us. Happy August :)

  13. Gorgeous birthday presents! I am also super intrigued by the chardonnay honey mustard.. I wonder if it tastes alcoholic or whether it's suitable for patients with liver disease :) Hope your medical tests go well and keep healthy!

  15. Sherry, so envious of the beautiful weather. I often forget Australia is on opposite seasons than the U.S.. At the moment we are cooking from the insides (laugh).
    You have plenty of gifts to share with us this month. Glad you enjoyed an award night and spent time with friends.

  22. So many lovely things in your kitchen as always Sherry. The mustard looks so good, but with all those seeds it's off my list I'm afraid, love all the mugs, and the fish mug is such a talking point I bet. How did you acquire your new cookbook memoir? It looks really good. Yes I love our Queensland Winter too, so changeable here, first a shower, then the sun, but that's ok. Hope that overall you are feeling ok. I love that kind of sketch too.
