In My Kitchen - November 2025

Here we go again, my friends :=)  Halloween just left the building, and already Christmas shenanigans are squeezing through the front door.  October has been very weird, weatherwise.  We had a huge storm with a super-cell (and massive 7cm hailstones), then the next day was 38C, then the day after that it dropped to 23C, and lots of rain.  EEEK!  What's next?  The Apocalypse?    


oh my word, friends - we had a storm!

Oh boy, did we have a storm!  See the green layer?  Yep, massive hail in some areas (not ours luckily).  And a house which was being renovated came off its stumps in the 96 kph winds.  I think 70,000 homes/people were without power.  Weirdly, our power went off, but only for about 30 seconds.  Other poor souls lost it for hours (and days).  For some reason (geographical?), our suburb rarely gets the bad stuff!

I bought the best dukkah ever - again!

I had to buy me some more Dubai chocolate

I tried dark chocolate, milk chocolate and ruby chocolate versions.  Nah to the ruby for sure, and nah to the dark - but yay for the milk choc version.  Which is odd for me, 'cos I don't normally go for milk chocolate!  But it just worked here!

  3. I have the Helen Goh book on my Christmas list. I've tried a few Dubai chocolates, but I don't think they're for me. Love those wooden spoons.

  4. So many fun additions to your kitchen. I love the spoons and that bee tea towel is TOO cute. I always prefer dark chocolate too so interesting on choosing the milk chocolate. Glad the storms spared your area. That picture looks pretty scary. Hope all is well and that you enjoy November!!

    1. thanks Lori. Yes i am finding that milk chocolate works best in some recipes... We are expecting another massive stormfront today with tornadoes and supercells!! Eeek...

  5. So pleased you weren't seriously affected by those storms. It has certainly been wild down your way. We've had a wildish storm too and it's raining now with an imbedded storm, which is lovely. Lots of delicious treats in your kitchen again Sherry, love the tea towel and the crabby wire sculpture. Those recipe books look interesting, I had seen the upside down cooking book. So much inspiration out there. Have a great month my friend.

  9. You have so many different goodies on your list today it would take me half a page to comment 'my way' :) ! But you have given me some real home work with your TWO dukkahs (which I love) and the papaya herb salt ?! Am too broke to buy Dubai chocolate . . . but as far as ordinary stuff goes it's always the dark for me :) ! We've had some pretty awful storms also but nought like up north - bestest . . .

  12. I saw that hail on Instagram stories - it was HUGE! Love your crab and your wooden spoon (there's no such thing as too many!) I love Dom - I think he is a national treasure!   16. I read about that storm on another Aussie blog. Wasn't it the same Thursday there was a storm here in western Europe too? I'm glad you didn't get the worst of it anyway.

    I have honestly never had Dubai chocolate. I think I might try it, but only once the hy
    pe is over and it's less expensive.
