In My Kitchen March 2015

Funnily enough, I had nothing new to show in this month's IMK, so I thought I would probably not jump in this month BUT!  We went to Melbourne for a wedding, and I ended up with a few goodies. They have such wonderful antique and curio stores down there; it is very hard to resist them!  I did manage to restrain myself and only bought a few things.  Mr Pickings the designer, is an artist of the organisational and spatial kind so he very kindly packed things away in his suitcase for the journey home.  His case was just a few kilos heavier than when we went down:)

So I guess I did end up with some goodies after all!  I was very lucky to receive the book from my niece who is a keen baker and clever cook.  Her  brother's 21st cake was a chocolatey delight.  I am planning on making a chocolate cake with the spread and the nibs.  If you get a chance to go to Burch & Purchese when in Melbourne, run for it!  At the moment it is full of marvellous, delectable Easter delights.  You won't be sorry.  (no, this is not an ad:).  I just loved it!)

    1. Thanks Lorraine. I love my bone handled knives. I have quite a few. I remember not so long ago when they were incredibly cheap. Not any more:)

      me too. i was so lucky to find it in this amazing shop in the hills where i lived as a child. Melbourne has such great stuff!

  10. Lots of great things Sherry, I love different salts but haven't had smoked before, what do you use it on?? that white chocolate and violet sauces sound like something I'd love to try!! Jan x

      i am a bit of a fanatic with salts. i use the smoked salt on just about everything. I bake salmon fillets or chicken breast in the oven and sprinkle this over. It is great on oven baked chips too. anything really!

  13. For someone who didn't have much to share, there's seems to be an awful lot in your kitchen. I see violets have made a reappearance in the white chocolate sauce. A match made in heaven. That little whisk is cute but the Del Kathryn Barton plate is divine. xx

      it was all due to going to melbourne! yep i adore that whisk, and the plate is just wonderful. it is even food safe clearly as it is ok in the microwave and dishwasher - not that i want to put it in either:)

  15. I absolutely love bone handled cutlery. I recently saw a complete canteen in an antique store. Nearly fell over when I saw the price.

    1. yes i can't believe the price of these nowadays. you could pick them up for a song not so long ago! now i hunt around and have to pay up to $10 for each knife!! thank goodness these were only $6 a piece.:)
