In My Kitchen - July 2025

Halfway through the year?  Pas possible!!  And moi - another year older.  Surely not possible? :=)  'Twas my birthday so time to head off for a birthday break.  So Mr P. and I headed 3 hours west to the Granite Belt.  I remember staying there one night a few years ago when it was minus 11C!  I have never been so cold - but it was brilliant.  This time it was fairly warm - around 6C at night.

Long-time readers may remember that hubby's first encounter with snow was in Central Park, New York.  Something you could never forget; and so very different to our sub-tropical lifestyle here in sunny Queensland.  Reminds me of taking our dear friends' teenagers to the snow on top of Mt. Wellington in Hobart, Tasmania a few years ago.  One's first sight of snow ...

mum kangaroo and her joey outside our holiday cabin

In My Kitchen:

the olive oil harvest was early this year!

a few goodies from our local providore Mumbleberry

another cookbook!!

So many recipes I want to make from this one!

annual winter goodies from COCO88!

hazelnut oil from Tasmania

and a few more goodies from Mumbleberry

and a couple of chicken mugs that I bought on our break

I decanted the sauerkraut after our break - it had fermented for 3 weeks!

I bought this gorgeous tea-towel (by Kate Piekutowski Artist)

Princess Pia gave me some organic lemons from her dad's tree

  3. Sounds like you had a lovely June. Everything looks delicious especially the Praline mini eggs. Praline is a favorite of mine.
I honestly don't know how it's July. No matter how hard I try to live in the moment, the moments fly by. Enjoy your month.

  5. Let's start with HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I know I said it once, but more is better, right? Second (and in very close place for first -- those Hazelnut Praline Mini Eggs!!! OMG -- do you need my address to send some Stateside? (lol) Everything looks good -- all the chocolates, the oils, the tea towel, the chicken mugs (I have a friend who will covet those), and the cookbook title is a riot! Great month! Happy July from the last day in June! David

  9. You're heading into cozy winter as we're roasting in summer heat here in the US! Your pictures are lovely! I had a weekend at home and spent time in the kitchen, and I realized how infrequently I get to do that anymore. Can't retire yet, so it's work during the week and travel on the weekends for a while longer!

  13. Happy birthday Sherry - glad to see you celebrated in style but not in the freezing cold! Though you did not say if it snowed when it was -11. Surely it did! I can't believe I got my IMK done on 1 July!!! Maybe I will get time to visit more IMK posts this month. I love all your fun and whimsy in the kitchen - those gorgeous chookie mugs would be perfect in my mum's kitchen with all her chookie bits and pieces. I enjoyed looking your bookcase and the gorgeous bowl with the lemons in it. Lots of nice goodies from mumbleberry. That cover of the cookbook is gorgeous as are the teatowel and bunny. Enjoy your July and being one year older!
