My Sunday Photo 22 May 2016

sunset through a bushfire haze

Hubby and I took a drive out into the countryside yesterday.  It was a beautiful Autumn day here with blue skies, just a few clouds and brilliant sunshine.  All pretty normal for a south-east Queensland day.  On the way home, coming down the mountain, we noticed masses of smoke.  There was a bushfire of some sort - it may have just been back burning which is done at this time of year.  And what a glorious sunset it became!

  3. Hi Sherry, who needs lenses and filters when a bushfire can defuse the light! When we get wildfires here the sky can look hazy for days.

    1. Nature is really amazing. i am dreading the backburning they are planning to do across the road from us soon. the smoke will be a killer, and i worry about the animals in the bush.

  4. Smoke makes for the prettiest sunsets, it's something to do with light refraction off the smoke particles or some such. We have a lot of burning off here too at the moment. I'm quite over the smell of smoke.

    1. Thanks Lorraine. I hate the smelly back burning that goes on all winter. And I worry about the animals so. Where can they go?
